49 NORTH TATTOO
Artists
Owner/ Operator: Kelsey Voykin
Kelsey is a local to the Kootenays, and finds the area home again after obtaining her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at Alberta University of The Arts in 2017. Kelsey has been in the tattoo industry since 2017 when she began her apprenticeship under Meagan McLatchey at 1025 Tattoo in Rossland BC. She took over the previous shop location and opened 49 North Tattoo in 2020 in the midst of the shutdowns.
Kelsey enjoys tattooing anything floral/nature related in both blackwork, and in colour. She also enjoys anything spooky such as witchy lady heads, eyes, pumpkins, etc. Pet portraits, vintage botanical-style illustrations, eyes incorporated into designs, and anime pieces have been making her extra excited lately.
She takes her coffee black, or anything with oat milk if you were thinking of bringing her some tattooing fuel. She looks forward to tattooing you!

Sarah Chalmers
Sarah moved to British Columbia from Ontario in 2009. The natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest inspired her to learn more about conservation and ecology. She now holds a bachelor of science in biology which has taken her from working with owls in Arizona and New Mexico, to songbirds in Northern BC, and hawks on Vancouver Island.
In 2019 she began her tattoo apprenticeship at Electric Uprising in Squamish under the guidance of Justin Ormiston. She continues to be humbled by the opportunity to pursue this dream. The challenge of tattooing and being creative for a living is everything she could have hoped it to be. A new chapter is unfolding, and she is so excited to be extending her work to beautiful Rossland, BC.
Sarah enjoys working in black and grey and creating high contrast, dark artwork, usually involving plants and creatures of the natural (and supernatural) world. She is always interested in tattooing anything from folklore or mythology, especially Japanese stories. She is also interested in heavy blackwork ornamental pieces.
Sarah looks forward to hearing your ideas! She also takes her coffee black ;)
